Workshop 5.

Collage  is a way of depicting a design or environment in a creative way. It allows the viewer to have an in-site into a design concept which may not be as obvious from simply looking at a basic drawing.

Different textures, colours and techniques not only offer visual interest to a work but also adds depth and meaning.

These images are all created using magazines, and pens. All are a reflections of different aspects of the Shelter for a Situation project; Site, Conversation and shelter.

Workshop 3. Drawing Techniques.

Hatching- Hatching is a simple drawing techniques used in most quick illustrations. It is often used to show any difference in surfaces.

Cross-Hatching - This technique is good for depicting shadow and light. It allows you to create depth and perspective to the work.

Stippling- the most time consuming however it is the most rewarding. stippling allows detailed depiction of texture.

Scribbling - freestyle scribbling allows you to create more form and structure in the drawing.

All drawing techniques offer different positives and negatives. The is a different technique for each different situation. Drawings that consist of the same technique throughout sometimes might have the tendency may not look as stimulating as those that have a mixture of techniques.

There is however the possibility of overworking an image. There needs to be a balance to create visual interest. pausing and standing back from your work is a help.
